Jakarta. CN 235-220 aircraft made by PT Dirgantara Indonesia (Persero) / PT DI were officially exported to Nepal as a Nepalese Army military transport as a realization of delivery of contracts that had been signed since June 16, 2017.
The Ferry Flight has a MGO / Fixed Wing / 073/74/65 contract number between PT DI and the Nepal Army. For the purposes of this export, aircraft production financing is fully carried out by the Indonesian Export Financing Agency (LPEI) or Indonesia Eximbank using the National Interest Account (NIA) scheme.
Supporting this project provides socio-economic benefits for Indonesia by absorbing more than 4,000 workers and involving supporting industries, especially SMEs in the country who are supplying the needs for the construction of the aircraft.
The delivery of the aircraft was carried out on Wednesday (30/10) from the PTDI Fixed Wing Hangar, Jl. Pajajaran No. 154 Bandung, heading for Kathmandu, Nepal planned to arrive on November 2, 2019.
Some officials who were present to review and release the aircraft were PTDI's Managing Director, Elfien Goentoro, Deputy for Commerce and Industry Coordination, Bambang Adi Winarso representing the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Director General of the Metal, Machinery, Transportation and Electronics Industry (ILMATE), Harjanto represented the Minister of Industry with the Senior Executive Vice President (SEVP) I of the Indonesian Export Financing Agency (LPEI) or Indonesia Eximbank, Yadi Jaya Ruchandi.
The one who flew the plane was Capt. Esther Gayatri Saleh as a Test Pilot in Command and Flight Instructor (acting as Chief of the Mission), and Capt. Ervan Gustanto as Copilot. They flew the CN235-220 aircraft from Husein Sastranegara Airport, Bandung to Medan, then continued to Yangon, Myanmar, then continued back to Dhaka, Bangladesh and flew back to Kathmandu, Nepal as the final destination. Later the aircraft will be carried out an advanced Flight Training and Final Acceptance Flight by the Nepalese Army.
Related to the provision of NIA facilities to PT DI, it actually is a realization of the Decree of the Minister of Finance (KMK) Number 512 / KMK.08 / 2018 concerning Amendments to the Decree of the Minister of Finance Number 649 / KMK.08 / 2017 Concerning Special Assignments to the Indonesian Export Financing Institution Providing Aircraft Export Financing.
The National Interest Account (NIA) is a mandate given by the Government to LPEI to increase product competitiveness and encourage national strategic industries to export to non-traditional countries.
On a separate occasion, Sinthya Roesly, Executive Director of LPEI, said that the performance of national industrial exports is very important for increasing the value of the trade balance, therefore efforts are needed to increase the value of exports both in terms of export volume and export destination markets. So that the role of the Government through LPEI to provide special financing can stimulate Indonesia's strategic industries to trade (export) to non-traditional countries.
PT DI's success in fulfilling the orders of the State of Nepal can increase interest for other countries in aircraft products made in Indonesia. Airplane exports to Nepal have strategic value for PT DI because overseas customer satisfaction is one of the main requirements in evaluating international tenders.
"The support provided by LPEI to PT DI is one form of strategy to demonstrate that aircraft products made in Indonesia are able to compete in the international market," said Yadi J. Ruchandi, LPEI Senior Executive Vice President I.
As one of the Government's fiscal tools, LPEI in accordance with its mandate will continue to unlock potential markets so that Indonesian exporters can penetrate markets to non-traditional countries and increase the capability of exporters to compete in the global market.
